Churros, the delicious pastry that originated among the shepherds in Spain, are available hot to you at Churreria Madrid, our restaurant in NW Washington, DC. Dip the churros into the dark chocolate sauce, and you have a very Spanish treat. Churrerias (Spanish for "churro shop") are neighborhood institutions in Spain.  We are proud to be serving churros here in Adams Morgan since 1973.  35 years!

Our customers, many of whom have grown up with us, come to our restaurant from DC, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax.

Paella Castellana

Our restaurant is much more than a churreria!  Our chef for 25 years, María, is a master of authentic Spanish cuisine.  Our Bistec al Plato, sliced thin in the Spanish style, is a local favorite.  Our Paellas Castellana, from an original recipe brought from Spain, have a huge demand during the holidays, but are available all year.

Our very popular empanadas come with meat, spinach or tuna fillings. Our delicious croquetas will melt in your mouth!

Come to our restaurant for Spanish specialties rarely seen in the Washington, DC area.  Our pulpo (octopus) is prepared in the Galician style.  Merluza, a favorite fish of Spain, is flown in fresh (call first for availability).  And once a month you may enjoy rabbit stew made from a Spanish recipe with Spanish ingredients.  World travelers compare us favorably to restaurants they have been to in Spain.

The Sangría served at our El Toro bar is made from the recipe brought by our founders from Madrid.  Our extensive winelist includes such Spanish favorites as Lan Crianza, Lan Reserve, Faustino Rivero, Peñamonte, Clos Torribas and Marques de Caseres. We maintain the friendly atmosphere created by our founders, Paco and Hilda.  If you are new to Spanish cuisine, our staff will help you make a menu selection you will certainly enjoy.
